Crooked River, 2004
oil on canvas 16 x 20 inches
In the summer of 2004 I switched from acrylic paint to oil. Before switching to oil I would make drawings and color sketches of landscapes outdoors, and then finish the paintings in the studio where I would have more control of the drying time because acrylic paint dries very quickly. With the switch to oil paint I was able to work outdoors and finish landscape paintings entirely in the field. I painted this picture by setting up my easel on the foot bridge over the Crooked River at the park.
