Swan, 2001
stuffed felt 23 x 34 x 18 inches
The felt swan was one of six swans for a sculpture installation where the assignment was to do a sculpture inspired by a folk tale. The swan comes from the Grimm’s Fairy Tale The Six Swans. In the story the wicked step mother tries to do away with her step children by using magic to transform them into swans. She transforms the six sons, but the daughter escapes and labors to reverse the spell and make her brothers human again.
